Currently, I am professor for Democracy Studies and director of the Institute for Democracy Studies at the Georg-August University Göttingen. I teach political systems and political culture, especially comparative party systems, content analysis and research design. I am the scientific head of the research and documentation centre for the analysis of political and religious extremism in the state Lower Saxony. My current research focuses on extremism and the ideological polarization of party systems in Europe. Since 2022, I am co-director of the Manifesto Project – MARPOR, which is jointly conducted with Social Science Centre Berlin (WZB)."
