A person in a red button‑up jacket with a patterned shirt underneath is seated on a porch, with railings and the exterior of a house behind them.

I am a PhD candidate (ABD) in Political Science at Syracuse University. I investigate three questions in my research: Under what conditions do socio-economic grievances influence political behavior? How can we better conceptualize and measure trends, attitudes, and grievances that underpin support for authoritarian populism and democratic backsliding? And which types of messages are most persuasive in promoting democracy and democratic attitudes? I examine these questions using data from cross-national and panel surveys, as well as survey experiments.
