Anastasia Stamoglou

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Anastasia Stamoglou is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds an MSc in Political Science (Gender and Sexuality) from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Crisis and Security Management (War and Peace Studies) from Leiden University. Her research broadly explores the relationship between populism, anti-populism, and feminist politics, with a particular interest in how different political actors construct “the people,” democracy, and legitimacy through discourse. In her PhD project, “Feminism Against the People? Anti-Populism and the Limits of Liberal Resistance,” she comparatively examines Argentina and the United States to consider whether populist or anti-populist political formations are more receptive (or resistant) to radical feminist claims. Drawing on discourse analysis of political speeches, feminist movement declarations, and state documents, she investigates how feminist demands are articulated, contested, and institutionalised within competing political logics. Alongside her doctoral research, she currently serves as an EU Policy & Research Trainee at the European League for Institutes of the Arts (ELIA), where she conducts EU-level research on culture, education, and research policy and contributes to advocacy work through structured policy analysis and writing.
